Premier Dennis King has offered condolences folllwing the fatal plane crash in Tehran, Iran, on Wednesday.

“On behalf of the province of Prince Edward Island, our deepest condolences are with those who have lost family, friends and loved ones in the tragic plane crash in Iran that claimed the lives of 176 people, among them many Canadians,” said King in the statement issues on Thursday.

“Our thoughts are also with the greater Iranian-Canadian community in Prince Edward Island. As Islanders, we care deeply about each other and, together, we join fellow Canadians and people from around the world who are mourning this tragic loss.”

The Jan. 8 plane crash killed 176 people, including 63 Canadian citizens.
