SYDNEY, N.S. — A 23-year-old man has been charged with stunting after police say he was caught doubling the speed limit near a Sydney mall.
Cape Breton Regional Police say the driver of the Mercedes was clocked at over 120 km/hr in a 60 km/hr stretch of roadway between the Mayflower Mall and the Cape Breton Drive-In.
Both the driver’s vehicle and his license were seized for seven days.
He is now facing a fine of over $2,400.
Police say speeding remains a leading cause of motor vehicle collisions, leading them to continue to enforce safe driving speeds throughout the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.
Police ask the public to report unsafe driving to them at 902-563-5151 or by dialing 911.
