SYDNEY, N.S. — A 38-year-old Sydney woman has been released on conditions after being charged in connection with two hit and run incidents Monday night in Sydney.
Beverly Ann Murray-Rose of Pleasant Street is charged with impaired driving, refusing a breathalyzer demand and breaching a court order by failing to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. She also faces an unrelated offence of failing to attend court in missing a court date June 25.
Among the conditions of her release, Murray-Rose is not to have contact with two individuals, refrain from alcohol and drugs not prescribed to her, report by phone, once a week, to Cape Breton Regional Police, abide by a curfew. She is also prohibited from operating any motor vehicle.
She was charged after a Dodge Journey SUV crashed into the front steps of the Jailhouse Eatery on George Street in Sydney on Monday evening.
The driver fled the scene shortly before a Cape Breton Regional Police car arrived but an officer pursued the driver on foot. An arrest was made on George Street.
A number of bystanders pulled over to assist before police arrived.
Moments prior, the same vehicle was alleged to have hit another vehicle near Governor’s Restaurant on the Esplanade.
There were no reports of any personal injuries.
Murray-Rose is now expected to enter pleas when she returns to court July 28.
