Young girl injured after being hit by truck in Louisbourg

LOUISBOURG, N.S. — Cape Breton Regional Police are investigating after a young girl was hit by a truck on Main Street in Louisbourg.

Officers responded at approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday where an eight-year-old girl was being treated by paramedics after being struck by a truck. She was transported to Cape Breton Regional Hospital and later to hospital in Halifax for further treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle was seized for mechanical inspection and the traffic safety unit is investigating with assistance from forensic identification officers to determine the events leading up to the collision.
