GANDER, NL – With only eight cards left in the deck, the jackpot for Centreville-Wareham-Trinity’s (C-W-T) Chase the Ace on Tuesday night, Jan. 15, is an estimated $94,000.

This is the second year C-W-T Recreation and the Indian Bay ATV Association have held the event, according to Cory Pickett, one of the organizers.

The first fundraiser went after 23 weeks, taking in $75,000 in profits to repair area trails through the ATV association, and to help build up and maintain recreational infrastructure.

Pickett noted the second go-around got underway on March 7, but started out a little slower than the previous Chase the Ace.

However, as the jackpot began to build, so did the Chase the Ace momentum. He added the event has outgrown its Green Acre Lounge location, with overflow being rerouted to the local school and some people even wait in their vehicles for the draw to be made.

The draw for the Ace will take place Tuesday Jan. 16, in C-W-T.

Ticket sales run from 6-8 p.m. with the draw to take place shortly after. Last week’s consolation prize was $6,236.
