"Come From Away" is coming home.
Thanks to a short gap between the Toronto production’s move from the Royal Alexandra Theatre to the Elgin Theatre in January, the production team is bringing the Tony Award-winning show to St. John’s for an eight-performance run at the Holy Heart Theatre between Jan. 23-27.
These will be the first performances of the show since two by the original cast in Gander before the show even made it to Broadway.
“We canvassed the cast and band to find out if they would be willing to travel and perform in what otherwise would have been a holiday week for them,” Toronto producer David Mirvish stated in a press release.

“Before we could finish our request, all of them were jumping for joy at the opportunity to visit Newfoundland. Having played in Toronto for over eight months to standing-room-only crowds, they all cherished the chance to tell the story on ‘native soil’.”
Net proceeds from the eight-run engagement will go towards the six towns that harboured displaced travelers — Gander, Gambo, Appleton, Lewisporte, Norris Arm, and Glenwood — as well as the Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Community Food Sharing Association.
Tickets, ranging in price from $29 to $99, not including applicable taxes, go on sale Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. exclusively through holyhearttheatre.com.
