CORNER BROOK, N.L. — The Corner Brook Minor Hockey Association says financial irregularities have prompted the organization to take a closer look at its books.
In a letter recently released to the hockey community, the association’s executive confirmed it is conducting an internal audit into its finances, motivated by the discovery of some unusual activity with regard to its finances.
The Western Star attempted to reach members of the association’s executive, but no one had returned any messages as of deadline Monday.
In the letter, the association reassures parents and the community that measures are being taken to protect the association’s financial security and to offer children the best opportunities playing the sport in Corner Brook.
