In a freak accident reminiscent of a scene from an action movie, a driverless car shot high-speed down a St. John’s residential street, jumped a snow bank, slammed into a nearby garage and landed on its side.

Unbelievably, there were no injuries in the incident that happened on Brad Gushue Crescent in Southlands Saturday evening.

A witness to the incident told the Telegram a man was apparently cleaning his car in his driveway and replacing a floor mat when the car suddenly took off without him, travelled at high-speed about 50 metres and shot into the air into the garage. The car struck the structure about ten feet above the ground before it flipped over.

The garage was extensively damaged and a Camaro sports car inside was also damaged.

The RNC is investigating the incident.
