SYDNEY, N.S. — A 43-year-old Glace Bay man is facing charges in connection to the October death of a four-month-old infant.

Jason Wayne Comer will appear in Sydney Provincial Court on Jan. 29, 2020, charged with criminal negligence causing death and failing to provide the necessities of life, for the infant.

Charges are the result of an investigation into the infant’s death on Oct. 9. Cape Breton Regional Police originally responded to a Cottage Street residence at approximately 9 a.m. where EHS was on scene attending to an infant in distress. The boy was transported to Glace Bay Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Major Crime investigators and Forensics officers, in conjunction with the Medical Examiner’s office, investigated the cause and circumstances surrounding the boy’s death, leading to charges against Comer.
