High winds, rough seas prompt Marine Atlantic schedule changes

Marine Atlantic has issued a statement that rough weather will affect departure and arrival times for ferries between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland this weekend.

The Port aux Basques to North Sydney run, which was due to go today (Friday) at 11:45 p.m.  is now scheduled to depart Saturday, at 11:45 a.m., weather permitting.

North Sydney to Port aux Basques at 11:45 p.m. is now scheduled to depart Saturday at 11:45 weather permitting.

Ferries originally scheduled for Saturday sailings could also be affected, the statement says. Impending weather conditions in the Cabot Strait could affect the following departures: North Sydney to Port aux Basques Saturday at 1145 a.m. and Port aux Basques to North Sydney Saturday at 1145 a.m.

Passengers who would like to make alternate travel arrangements should contact Marine Atlantics toll-free reservation line at 1-800-341-7981.

Marine Atlantic is continuing to monitor the marine forecast and will provide up to date information as soon as it becomes available.
