ST. JOHN’S, NL – For over 30 years students and teachers across the province have donated their recess money on Janeway Day to support the Janeway Child’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre.

The event, being held today, Feb. 14, this year, is sponsored annually by the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association (NLTA).

“Teachers and students have supported Janeway Day in the Schools since 1986 and we are very proud of the outcome,” NLTA president Dean Ingram said in a news release.

According to Ingram, over $1,116,220 has been donated to the Janeway from the fundraising efforts.

“We are quite proud of this achievement,” he said.
