Judy Foote will be installed as the first female lieutenant-governor of Newfoundland and Labrador on May 3.
The ceremony will take place in the House of Assembly on that date with further details on the installation to be announced in the coming weeks.
Foote was named the province’s first female lieutenant-governor by Prime Minister Justice Trudeau on Tuesday.
She is the former MP for the riding of Bonavista-Burin-Trinity and has served the province in some political capacity for 28 years.
