15 new positive COVID-19 cases in NL: CMO

Chief Medical Officer Janice Fitzgerald announced Thursday another 15 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador.

All are in the Eastern Health region.

The total across the province now stands at 82. Everyone is recovering at home.

The number of cases per region now stands at:

Eastern Health: 76 

Central Health: 2

Western Health: 1

Labrador/Grenfell: 3

Seven of those who tested positive are under the age of 19. Fifteen are in the 60-89 range, and 15 are over 70. The oldest is 80,

Fitzgerald also confirmed that the province’s own microbiology lab can now confirm initial tests, rather than having to send them to Winnipeg.
