ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — It looks like things will finally get back to normal for most families with school-age children living in the St. John’s metro area.
Newfoundland and Labrador English School District (NLESD) has confirmed all schools in the K-12 system for the area will open Tuesday, Jan. 28. The announcement was made early Monday afternoon.
High school students were already back to school Monday following a state of emergency, which ended Saturday in St. John’s and resulted in the loss of six days for all students and seven for those who remained home Monday. NLESD said Sunday that it was taking a phased approach to reopening schools to order to help ensure the safety of students returning to class.
Because of the volume of snow on the ground and ongoing snowclearing operations, some schools have made temporary changes to bus routes. A full summary of those adjustments can be found on the NLESD website.
