Just after midnight, with heavy snow blanketing the city, Royal Newfoundland Constabulary patrol services officers spotted a vehicle headed in the wrong direction on a Trans-Canada Highway off-ramp.

Once the vehicle was stopped, police requested a breath sample from the driver and found that his blood alcohol level was almost twice the legal limit.

The 30-year-old man was arrested and had his vehicle seized. He was released to appear in provincial court at a later date.
