UPDATE: No impaired driving charges against woman who crashed vehicle in Happy Valley-Goose Bay

HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, N.L. – The RCMP says a woman they found walking away from a motor vehicle crash early in the morning on July 16 won't be charged.

A RCMP release on July 17 said police determined the 24-year-old was the driver of the vehicle and suspected she was impaired by alcohol. 

A subsequent release today, July 18, indicated a roadside screening device was administered and the woman was brought back to the detachment for further breath testing.

The driver was issued a 7-day driving suspension and released from custody while the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

A woman is facing impaired driving charges after RCMP officers in Happy Valley-Goose Bay happened upon her walking away from a motor vehicle crash just after 4 p.m. on July 16.

Police determined the 24-year-old was the driver of the vehicle, and suspecting she was impaired by alcohol, administered a roadside screening device before then bringing her back to the detachment for breath testing.

According to a RCMP release today, July 17, the breath samples she provided were above the legal limit for alcohol while driving.

The woman was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
