A young man charged Monday with mugging an elderly woman was back in court Tuesday morning, where he was given a new charge.

Bradley Steiner, 21, was charged with stealing from another woman in St. John’s on July 24. The details of the alleged theft have not yet been read into court record.

Steiner was arrested Sunday afternoon after police were called to a reported mugging outside the Dollarama store on Kelsey Drive around 12:30 p.m. Steiner had allegedly pushed an elderly woman to the ground and grabbed her purse before running away. Officers located him shortly afterwards, with the help of a police dog, and took him into custody.

Steiner will remain in custody until his next court date, Aug. 15, at which time both charges will be dealt with.
