Apparent stabbing in St. John's Sunday sends a man to hospital

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — One man was sent to hospital following an apparent stabbing in downtown St. John’s just before 6 p.m. Sunday.

The victim was located behind an apartment building on Brazil Street.

A bystander told the Telegram the man appeared to have a stab wound to his lower chest and that a second person, a female, had blood on her upper body.

When The Telegram arrived on scene, there were two ambulances on the nearby parking lot and several RNC cruisers parked near the building.

Officers and paramedics could be seen going from the parking lot at the front of the building and walking up some steps to the rear.

Officers were also spotted speaking to a woman sitting on the steps on the scene near a rear entrance to the building and she was later placed in the rear of a police cruiser.

The full extent of the man's injuries was unknown.
