Arrest made in Avondale armed robbery

AVONDALE, N.L. — Holyrood RCMP made an arrest Sunday night in relation to a recent armed robbery at a store in Avondale.

According to a news release, 38-year-old Conception Bay South resident Dudley Peyton is facing charges of robbery with a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and failure to comply with a condition of an undertaking. He remained in police custody as of early Monday afternoon.

Holyrood RCMP was called to Flynn’s Store in Avondale at around 5:45 p.m. Friday, March 15. There, a man had entered the business holding what appeared to be a firearm and demanded money, which he later left with. Police released multiple images of the suspect over the weekend taken from security footage.

In Monday’s release, Holyrood RCMP thanked the public for information received about the location of the suspect’s vehicle and his identity.
