Brandon Coady appeared before a judge in provincial court in St. John’s Friday afternoon. Lawyers agreed to set the case over until Monday for further review. Coady was taken back to jail.

He faces five charges — attempted murder, aggravated assault, break and enter and two counts of uttering threats (to the man and a woman).

RNC patrol, criminal investigation and forensic officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on Weymouth Street in the capital city.

Coady reportedly broke into a woman’s house and stabbed a 24-year-old man.

Paramedics with Eastern Health transported the man to hospital, where he remained in serious condition as of midday Friday.

RNC officers arrested Coady at the scene.

Police say this was not a random act of violence and the investigation is continuing.
