The business was competitive axe-throwing.

At the end of Monday night’s council meeting, Tilley announced that a proposal for an axe-throwing facility on Topsail Road won’t be going ahead.

“The good news is, your worship, the proponent has withdrawn his application, and I thank God for that,” Tilley said.

Earlier this year, Jack Axes Inc. announced it hoped to set up shop in town.

Since starting in Ontario a decade ago, axe-throwing has expanded across the country as a competitive hobby.

Quidi Vidi Brewery was supposed to be the supplier for the in-house bar.
