A body was recovered Saturday from a beach in Doughboy Cove, east across the ocean from Arnold’s Cove.
According to a news release from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Saturday evening, work is underway by police and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) to identify the body.
“Police were notified this morning that lobster fishermen in the area of Doughboy Cove had discovered a body. Clarenville RCMP and Forensic Identification Services travelled to the beach and examined the scene. After consulting with the OCME, the body was secured and is being sent to St. John's for examination,” reads the RCMP news release.
According to the release, the RCMP was in communication with the family of the missing crew member of the Sarah Anne, but no positive identification of the body has yet occurred.
