A British Airways Boeing 777 made an emergency landing at St. John’s International airport early Tuesday morning after a fire alarm was activated in the plane’s cargo hold.
The aircraft with 209 people aboard landed safely at about 2:30 a.m. and was escorted to the terminal by airport fire trucks. When it arrived, airport firefighters used infrared cameras to check for any signs of fire as passengers disembarked.
The plane was travelling from New York to London.
More details will be provided as they become available.
