Tristan Barrett of Burin was charged earlier this month with possession for the purpose of drug trafficking following an investigation into a drug seizure by Burin Peninsula RCMP on June 11.
A RCMP news release states the seizure occurred while police were at Barrett’s residence in relation to other criminal matters.
The drugs were sent to the RCMP’s forensic laboratory for testing and tested positive for fentanyl and another morphine derivative, both of which could cause death or serious injury.
The RCMP Digital Forensics Services Unit was called in to assist in the collection of evidence to support the charges against Barrett which include two counts of possession for the purpose of drug trafficking, one for fentanyl and the other for MDMA (ecstasy).
Barrett, who is currently remanded in custody for other criminal matters, was recently served a court appearance notice in relation to these additional charges.
