MARYSTOWN, NL – World figure skating champion and Olympic medallist Kaetlyn Osmond will be returning home to Marystown this weekend and there’s a full slate of activities planned.
First up, however, is an event at the Confederation Building in St. John’s at 10:15 a.m. on Friday morning.
Osmond and Paralympian sledge hockey player Liam Hickey will be congratulated on their medal wins at the recent Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Osmond will then make her way to Marystown where she will drop the puck at a charity hockey match between Eastern Health and the RCMP.
Proceeds from the event, which starts at 7 p.m., will go towards the Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation’s mental health and addictions campaign. Osmond will be available for photographs and autographs at the event.
On Saturday, the day will kick off with a parade starting at the Walmart parking lot at 9:30 a.m.
The parade will travel along McGettigan Boulevard, turn left onto Penny Street, then turn right onto Ville Marie Drive, ending at St. Gabriel’s Hall.
A meet and great with Osmond will follow at St. Gabriel’s Hall at 11:15 a.m., which will include speeches followed by an opportunity for children to get photos and autographs.
In the afternoon, Osmond will serve as guest performer at the Ice Crystal Skating Club’s annual ice show at 4 p.m.
Finally, an adult social with Osmond will be held at St. Gabriel’s Hall at 8 p.m. There will be entertainment, food, and presentations, as well as another opportunity to grab a photo and autograph with Osmond.
