MONCTON, NB – Some hot topics will be on the agenda when Gerry Byrne sits down with Dominic LeBlanc on Thursday.
Byrne, the fisheries minister for Newfoundland and Labrador, and LeBlanc, federal minister of Fisheries and Oceans, will meet at 10 a.m. at the Gulf Fisheries Centre in Moncton, N.B.
The pair will discuss modernizing the Federal Fisheries Act to include principles such as allocations based on adjacency and Indigenous participation in the fishery.
Other subjects will include the Arctic surf clam quota, access to increasing the redfish resource and the current status of Newfoundland and Labrador fisheries.
