CONCEPTION BAY SOUTH, N.L. — A vehicle was destroyed by fire as a result of a two-vehicle crash in Conception Bay South just before noon Thursday.
One person was taken to hospital, although injuries aren't believed to be serious.
The accident occurred at a crosswalk located at the intersection of Topsail Road and Woodpath Road. It appears the car rear-ended an SUV, with the former catching fire just seconds after the collision.
Firefighters from the Conception Bay South department arrived on the scene within minutes to extinguish the blaze, but not before the car was destroyed. The SUV suffered far less damage.
Traffic was detoured around the scene until the burned-out car could be towed from the area.
