CARBONEAR, N.L. — Elections Newfoundland and Labrador have closed the Carbonear special ballot office for the district of Carbonear – Trinity – Bay de Verde.

The closure, effective today, results from numerous complaints from an unnamed political party regarding the office's proximity to that of the current Member of the House of Assembly for the district — incumbent Steve Crocker.

Crocker's office is at 27A Goff Ave, the same building as the special ballot office.

Crocker's opponents in the riding are the Progressive Conservatives' Frank Butt and Matt Smith for the NDP.

Elections NL says the site was originally chosen due to a lack of available and accessible rental space in the area.

Voters in Carbonear who wish to cast a special ballot in person may travel to Western Bay, or another special ballot office in a neighboring district, to vote.
