CARBONEAR, NL — Two years after he opened the downtown Carbonear restaurant in a historic property, Bruce Branan is looking to sell the Stone Jug.

According to a Rideout Reality listing for the building, which is almost 160 years old, the asking price to purchase the Stone Jug is $6.8 million. In past interviews with The Compass, Branan indicated he invested a substantial amount of his own money to renovate the building.

The property was originally known as Rorke's Stone Jug. Construction started in 1860. It served as a store and residence for owner James Rorke, and continued to operate as a family-run business into the 1970s.

Branan purchased the property 10 years ago. In the summer, the business employs upwards of 70 people.
