The man that police service dog Edge was tracking when he went missing on the weekend was released from custody Monday morning.

Chad Quilty, 28, was freed on a $2,000 surety and a long list of conditions, including that he sign in at RNC headquarters three times a week, that he abide by a curfew, that he stay away from a number of people and that he not leave the province.

Quilty was given two new court dates: one for Nov. 30, when he is schedule to appear on charges of break and entry, theft under $5,000 and breaching court orders, and one for Wednesday, when he will appear on charges of assault and breaching probation.

RNC officers, with help from Edge, were looking for Quilty in the neighbourhood of Ashlen Crescent and Picco Drive in Paradise late Friday afternoon, when Edge went missing. The RNC appealed to the public to be on the lookout for the German shepherd, with posts on their social media channels.

Quilty was located around 3 a.m. Saturday in Holyrood, but Edge wasn't found until a few hours later. He was located by fellow police dog Gunner in the same general area where he went missing.

The RNC said Edge was healthy and in good spirits when he was found, and went back to work that night, successfully locating a suspect in an unrelated case.
