Ches Crosbie is the new leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Crosbie said it’s possible for the PCs to form government in 2019. Now, he’ll have to get down to business. There has never been a one-term government in the province’s history.
Crosbie accepted the victory at the Delta Hotel Ballroom this evening, to a room full of around 400 PC supporters.
The party signed up over 11,000 members. Of those just over 4,000 members cast their ballots in the election.
Crosbie will be on the outside looking in to the House of Assembly as they await a by-election for their chance to win a seat.
Outgoing leader Paul Davis, who was honoured throughout the convention for his leadership, says he will remain the MHA for Topsail-Paradise until the end of the current sitting of the House of Assembly. He says a decision will be made in consultation with the party in the coming weeks.
