CORNER BROOK, N.L. — Less than 2 1/2 years after she was named the president and chief executive officer of Western Health, Cindy Davis is moving on.
The board of trustees for the health authority announced Davis’s departure in a news release on Wednesday afternoon.
“Cindy has been a strong leader at Western Health, and we are very fortunate to have had her as CEO for the past two years,” board chair Bryson Webb stated. “She has made great strides in working with our stakeholders to enhance engagement and successfully led the organization through the most challenging period, during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Davis has been with the health authority since 2006. Prior to being named CEO she was the vice-president of patient services and chief nursing officer.
She took over as CEO on June 1, 2018 in what was to be a five-year term.
Davis will remain in the position until the end of this year and will then move on to the position of CEO of Lakeridge Health in Ontario.
The board of trustees will be engaged with the province’s Independent Appointments Commission to recruit a new CEO for Western Health.
Notice of her resignation came just one day before the health authority board holds its annual meeting.
That meeting will be held virtually today at 1 p.m. Anyone interested in attending can access the meeting link at www.westernhealth.nl.ca prior to the start time.
