The City of St. John’s is ramping up its communication campaign ahead of some trial traffic changes at the contentious downtown Rawlins Cross intersection.
The plan calls for the removal of traffic signals on Military Road — including those for pedestrian crosswalks — and the introduction of yield signs on Military, Monkstown Road and Prescott Street for those approaching the intersection, essentially turning it into a large oval-shaped roundabout.
“All commuters in the area are asked to be patient, attentive, and obey the new road signs and markings,” the city wrote in a press release.
There’s no date for the new rules to come into effect, however, there is a drop-in information session next Wednesday (July 25) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bannerman Park Pool House.
Those not able to attend are encouraged to leave a question on the city’s public engagement website engagestjohns.ca.
