ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A city of St. John’s worker was taken to hospital Wednesday morning after the sidewalk plow he was operating overturned near Quidi Vidi Lake.
The incident happened on Lakeview Avenue when the driver apparently lost control of the machine which then flipped onto its side. The injured man was able to extricate himself from the cab of the plow which was left lying across the road.
He was taken to hospital by Eastern Health paramedics with a reported head injury but it was not thought to be life-threatening.
The plow sustained significant damage.
An official on scene said the area was extremely icy this morning.
One car was stuck halfway down the hill behind the plow when it was unable to manoeuvre in the icy conditions.
