In a press release late Wednesday, the CCL called for Premier Dwight Ball, Transportation and Works Minister Al Hawkins and Cartwright-L’Anse au Clair MHA Lisa Dempster to travel through Route 510 to Red Bay.
The CCL hopes doing so would further influence government action on the highway it says has caused daily flat tires and risked lives from people travelling for work, medical services or visitation.
With the school season re-opening in September, parents across the Labrador Straits are concerned for the safety of their children, the release stated.
Many who take the highway by school bus will also have to deal with shorter daylight time and poor road conditions, making accidents likely to occur, it added.
