A 25-year-old Corner Brook man charged with sexual assault was back in custody on Tuesday after the two people who signed on to act as his sureties asked to be removed.
In addition to the sexual assault charge, Mark Thompson is facing 10 other charges, including sexual interference, providing liquor to a minor and eight breaches of a recognizance.
The two sureties had pledged $5,000 — $2,000 from one person and $3,000 from the other — in the form of a promise to pay during a court appearance in July. That happened after Thompson was arrested on the breaches.
Thompson made a brief appearance in provincial court on Tuesday afternoon and the matter was set over until 1:30 p.m. today.
