A 29-year-old Holyrood man, who was stopped for speeding was arrested for impaired driving near Pasadena last week, and in a release about the incident, the RCMP took the opportunity to say this has become a much too common occurrence on the west coast and the province's highways in general.

According to an RCMP release, this is the seventh time since July 1 that Traffic Services West or Deer Lake Detachment officers have removed from someone from the road for impaired driving.

“This is a very disturbing trend which has very serious safety implications for the travelling public,” the release states. “We are all too familiar with the tragic consequences inflicted by drivers under the influence, including needless fatalities and life-long injuries.”
