A drill test will commence on Sept. 11 as a precursor to the possible construction of a facility to replace the Mews Community Centre.
Residents of the area comprised of locations in and around Pearce Avenue and Mundy Pond Road in St. John’s will see a drill rig located on the gravel parking lot in the area conducting a geotechnical investigation of the property in anticipation of the construction project.
Those who normally use this parking lot are asked to note the area where the rig will be operating will be clearly marked with orange pylons.
In addition, noise caused by the drilling are said to be within municipal guidelines so as to not create too much of an impact on residents of the area.
Weather and atmospheric conditions could enhance that noise should there be a change in atmospheric conditions and low cloud cover could intensify the sounds.
The City of St. John’s apologizes in advance for the inconvenience this may create.
