After slamming his car into a tree Thursday night, the driver fled the scene on foot, running through yards in Kilbride.

The violent crash happened at about 9:15 p.m. when, according to witnesses on scene, the car ran a stop sign at the intersection of Bay Bulls Road and Old Bay Bulls Road, drove across two lanes of traffic and slammed into the tree. The witnesses said it appeared the driver never even tried to stop or slow down.

An RNC K-9 team arrived on scene soon after the collision in an effort to locate the male. The car meanwhile was extensively damaged and leaking fluid and music was still blaring inside the vehicle as police searched the area. A nearby fence was also damaged.

It was not known if the driver was located before the Telegram left the area.

No other vehicles were involved.
