An eighteen-year-old male from Bishop's Cove had a blood-alcohol level of nearly twice the legal limit after being arrested at the scene of a single-vehicle accident in nearby Spaniard’s Bay earlier this week.

The RCMP was called to the crash on Route 70 in Spaniard’s Bay at about 5:30 a.m. Monday.

The driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving. Later breath-testing at the detachment confirmed he was well above the .08 threshold.

The male, who had his driver’s licence suspended, was released from custody to appear in court at a later date. The vehicle was seized.

The RCMP didn’t detail why in the release on the incident, but did thank the public for continuing to make reports and assist with impaired driving enforcement.
