RCMP confirm a two vehicle accident has left one person dead and another two injured.
The accident occurred just after 5:30 p.m. on the New Harbour side of the barrens near the turnoff for Route 73. As a result, the road was closed for a number of hours as police and first responders attended the scene.
A passenger was killed in the head-on collision. The two drivers are being treated at hospital.
Police are still investigating the incident.
