A three-storey home on Chapel Street in St. John’s was extensively damaged during a fire Wednesday night.
The fire was reported at 8:44 p.m. and when firefighters arrived on scene at 10 Chapel Street, there was smoke and fire coming from the third floor.
Platoon chief Dean Foley of the St. John’s Regional fire department said search crews found no one in the building and that the fire was knocked down quickly but not before it had spread into the ceiling. He added a roof ventilation crew also cut holes in the roof to help in the firefighting effort and that the fire had been contained to the home where it originated and had not spread into two adjoining houses.
There were no injuries.
