A shed fire on Davies Place in St. John’s late Monday morning destroyed the shed, extensively damaged a neighbouring shed, and damaged siding on a nearby home.
The St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) received a call about a structure fire at around 11 a.m.
“It was a little bit breezy here, but they got it pretty quick,” said Craig Cox, acting platoon chief with the SJRFD.
Wind gusts at the time were upwards of 70 km/h so crews acted fast, using water and foam to prevent spreading to nearby homes.
Cox said there were no injuries.
Seven SJRFD trucks were on scene, as well as one Royal Newfoundland Constabulary car.
A plume of smoke from the fire could be seen as far away as Signal Hill.
