On Friday afternoon provincial fire duty officer Boyd Pittman told The Telegram the brushfire two kilometres from the town of Fermeuse on the Southern Shore is now listed as under control.
Fire crews, a waterbomber from Gander and a helicopter were sent to the scene on Thursday.
As of Friday morning, the fire was considered 90 per cent contained as heavy rain fell on the area.
Three fire personnel and a fire truck were sent to the area Friday morning and reported no signs of hot spots or fires.
Friday morning estimates upgraded the fire from covering a three-hectare area to a 10-hectare area. But once the fire and smoke had cleared, fire personnel were able to walk the perimeter and measured 34 hectares affected.
