Fire crews, a waterbomber from Gander and a helicopter were sent to the scene on Thursday.

As of Friday morning, the fire was considered 90 per cent contained as heavy rain fell on the area.

Friday morning estimates upgraded the fire from covering a three-hectare area to a 10-hectare area. But once the fire and smoke had cleared, fire personnel were able to walk the perimeter and measured 34 hectares affected.
