ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — For the second time in just about two months, firefighters found themselves dealing with a blaze at a metal recycling business in the northeast end of St. John’s Tuesday.

The afternoon fire at the AIM (American Iron and Metal) facility on Robin Hood Bay Road appears to have originated with a car crusher. It was quickly brought under control and there were no reported injuries but the crusher received substantial damage.

In mid-August, firefighters knocked down a blaze that originated when one scrap vehicle caught fire near a mound of other vehicles being recycled and spread quickly, leading to a tower of flame and plume of smoke that could be seen from areas across the city.
