ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - The Department of Fisheries and Land Resources, Fish and Wildlife Enforcement, is looking for public help related to an incident during which a moose was alleged to have been illegally killed on Sept. 6 in Cape Broyle.

An individual was observed on an all-terrain vehicle carrying a firearm near residences in the community, officials say. A short time later, shots were heard in near homes. Fish and Wildlife enforcement officers were able to locate the remains and discarded meat from an adult moose.

Officers are asking anyone who has information or who may have seen suspicious behaviour in that area to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Office in St. John’s at 709-729-2192. Information can also be provided by calling toll free 1-877-820-0999 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Anonymous online reports can be submitted at www.stoppoaching.ca
