A doctor who practised in Labrador West is now the subject of a disciplinary hearing by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL).

Dr. Adekunle M. Owolabi, who hasn’t been licensed to practice medicine in the province since Nov. 26, 2018, was working out of a clinic in Labrador West until shortly before his medical license expired.

According to CPSNL, the date for the hearing has not been set and no information on any allegations against Owolabi is available. CPSNL said it has not yet determined whether hearings will be delayed by COVID-19 concerns but when a date is set it will be available on its website.

Owolabi was found guilty of professional misconduct in 2016 by CPSNL after complaints by four female patients in Labrador West.

At that time, a number of sanctions were imposed on Owolabi, including a six-month suspension of his license to practise medicine, and having a female chaperone present when seeing female patients for a period of two years.
