Frecker Drive home damaged by afternoon fire in St. John's

St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) crews got a 911 call at 3:30 for a structure fire at 174 Frecker Dr., located opposite Mansfield Crescent. SJRFD platoon chief Gerry O’Neill said the crews were met with heavy smoke when they arrived and crews conducted an initial search and discovered no one home at the time. He said there was heavy fire, smoke and water damage inside. There were no injuries reported to firefighters or other personnel. Newfoundland Power and paramedics were on the scene, but their services were not required. The RNC have the roadway blocked off to traffic while firefighters complete their work and investigation of the scene.

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The St. John's Regional Fire Department were busy Thursday afternoon dealing with a house fire on Frecker Drive.

Firefighters were met with heacy smoke when they arrived on the scene and spent the next while knocking down flames incisde the home.

There was extensive damage due to the fire in addition to smoke and water damage.

The RNC were on the scene directing traffic and had this section of Frecker Drive closed to the public.

The fire remains under investigation.
