There will be a funeral mass 10 o’clock this morning from the Basilica of St. John the Baptist in St. John’s for Alyssa Power, killed tragically in a car crash last Friday.
The 19-year-old victim was a new mother who had an infant girl just weeks ago.
The circumstances of Power’s death are now under investigation by the Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team, who is investigating the RNC’s involvement in the accident.
The crash occurred after police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Hamlyn Road in St. John’s. The 17-year-old girl driving the car apparently took off, speeding through an intersection and striking another vehicle.
She has been charged with dangerous driving causing death and flight from police.
In the meantime, friends of Power have created a Go-Fund Me page and other fundraisers to help Power’s family, in particular her infant daughter.
