ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — By year’s end, $200 million worth of capital construction will have been completed in Galway since work on the mixed residential-commercial-industrial development began five years ago.

“After many years of hard work, our vision is finally being realized in the city’s west end with a beautiful, top quality live, work and play development,” DewCor President and CEO Danny Williams stated in a release.

“In slower economic times it is always positive to see activity of this magnitude, which really is a significant boost to the economy overall.”

In the release, it notes that Galway will have contributed more than $5.2 million in fees and taxes to the City of St. John’s by the end of 2019.

It also notes that construction of 17 businesses in the Shoppes at Galway and the Galway Business Centre have created construction jobs and new employment.

Among the new businesses set to open soon are Michael’s, Princess Auto, Roosters Men’s Grooming Center, Starbucks, Tim Hortons, and Urban Shoe Company.
